Miss J. N. Easdale, who has been an official visitor to the Nelson Hospital for over 4-0 years, was invested with the British Empire Medal by the Governor-General, Sir Arthur Porritt, at a short ceremony during the Vice-Regal party's visit to Nelson. She was awarded the medal for meritorious service to the community.

Mrs Mary Fleming, who celebrated her 80th birthday in the Nelson Public Hospital last month, receives the congratulations of Lady Porritt during her visit to the wards, At left is Staff Nurse Vicki Crawley.

The assistant Scoutmaster of the Tahuna Scout group, Mr Bob Williscroft, was awarded the Wood Badge recently. The badge, which hangs around Mr Williscroft's heck, is the highest award available in New Zealand to Scout leaders.

During a reunion of the Cotton family in Nelson recently, opportunity was taken to have the babies of the three Cotton brothers dedicated at the Apostolic Church.
