Almost hidden away behind extensions and Marsden Hall is this beautiful old building - one of Nelson's most historic. The building, for all the world like a church, is known as the Bishop's School. It was built in 1845 by Bishop Selwyn and used as a school until 1895. Extensions were added at various stages and the whole now forms the Cathedral Parish Sunday School and Scout den. This building, in a bad state of repair, is part of the block of buildings under option to the Y.M.C.A.
