The huge cargo ship Cape Clear berthed at McGlashen Quay loading logs. The vessel is the biggest cargo ship to berth at the port.

Heavy rain towards the end of July caused quite a few slips and surface flooding throughout the province. In Nelson itself the rain brought down a big slice of sandstone above Rocks Rcad to the north of Magazine Point. The slip occurred at night and two cars were damaged when they ran into the debris. A fleet of Council trucks soon disposed of the material.
