Wedding Bells Grand-Pappy Style

Yep, folks, it really took place - but it was just a mock-up. The event was the senior citizens' mock wedding held in their hall. A tremendous crowd turned out to see the happy couple spliced.

Also present were Dorothy Ching and Ada Coleman, left, bride's parents; Doris Bowker and Val Mallabar, right, grandparents; Lena Reid and Mary Davenport, centre left, groom's parents; and Emma Blincoe and Mrs Emery, great-grandparents, centre right. Among the guests were Beatrice Gill and Mary Beach, below left. Mrs Elsie King-Turner (below) organised the wedding which was enjoyed by all (below right).

Delaney-Clements. At the Nelson Old Folks' Hal1, Pat Clements, last daughter of Mr and Mrs Clements, Mount Robert, to Charlotte Delaney, fourteenth son of Mr and Mrs Proudfoot, Waikikamoocow. Attendants were Ellen Wood, the chief, only and always bridesmaid, Winnie Proudfoot, the only (whoops, best) man they could get, and Melody Woolf, flower-girl. Future home, Old Folks' Hall.
