Vice-Versa Badminton

Members of the Stoke Badminton Club added a little spice to their usual weekly club night, by turning up "vice-versa". Everybody entered into the spirit of the evening, in fact we cannot recall seeing one player in conventional dress.

Barry Newport came out of the final sprint to the line a shade better than five other cyclists and held a half-wheel lead to take the Nelson provincial 25-mile road cycling championship. It was a great finish to a good race, with only a few feet separating the first five riders at the line.

Our picture at top shows the finish, with Newport just edging out Gary Clinton, Brian Shaw, Neville Hill (of Marlborough) and K. Rose.
