"And about time, too." These four words would undoubtedly sum up the feelings of all Nelsonians to the announcement that John Reid had been awarded an M. B. E. for gallantry in the Queen's Birthday honours list. On many occasions he has put his life and helicopters in danger to effect hazardous rescues. We add our congratulations to those of the district.

Mr Ray Wilson, chief pilot with Helicopters (N. Z.) Ltd, based in Nelson, who was one of the company's three pilots who helped in the evacuation of earthquake-stricken Inangahua.

Christopher Crow, youngest son of Mr and Mrs H. W. E. Crow, 282 Hampden Street, Nelson, has graduated B. A. from Canterbury University. He is now studying for an M. A. at the university.

Laurie and Nellie Gibbs, 168 Cleveland Terrace, who celebrated their silver wedding anniversary recently.
