Jazz club formed

A fairly large band of jazz enthusiasts formed a jazz club in Nelson earlier in the month. The meeting spent a minimum of time in talking--they were keen to get into the jazzy part of the evening - a few hot licks from some of those present.

Pushing the beat are David Jack (who has just won an N. Z. B. C. song-writing contest), Elston Blain and Cliff Whiting. Helping out, at right, were Dave Coe, Chris Hay and Dick Ralfe.

John Farrell and Dennis Lumsden.

Two jazz lovers, Heather Whiting and Betty Blain.

Also there were Lois Geddes, Lorraine Todd, Wayne Newth and Jim Patterson.
