Gaiety at Braemar ball

Braemar Hospital staff spent many hours preparing for their annual ball. This was obvious to all patrons immediately they stepped into the Memorial Hall at Stoke. Decorations were lavish, colourful and original and the provision of masks added to the gaiety. During the evening five nurses who recently completed their training were presented to Mrs Beatrice Evans. They were (above) Gail Cunniffe, Allison Biss, Joe Bartle, Sue Manson and Nancy Pullar. In front are the matron, Mrs Moira McNamara, Mrs Evans, and hospital superintendent, Dr Kay Bradford.

On the door that night was "Ham" Hawthorne, who has spent 28 years on the Braemar staff. With him is Mel Pahl.
