Sister Faulkner Retires

After a long and distinguished nursing career, Sister "Nell" Faulkner retired last month. Sister Faulkner's service to the community lasted for 30 years and 100 days. She spent nine years of this as sister in charge of the Motueka Cottage Hospital and the last 10 years as supervising sister of the maternity annexe at Nelson hospital. On her last day on duty, Sister Faulkner was the recipient of presentations from the nursing staff of the hospital, doctors and patients. At top left, the matron (Miss Rolls) makes Sister Faulkner a presentation on behalf of the hospital staff, and at left, Dr Brian Neill makes a similar presentation for the doctors. A big floral gift was also presented to her by new mothers (below).
