Easter Golf

The young Nelson golfer, Darryl Templeman won the Nelson Golf Club's 36-hole gross, A-grade championship at Easter. Geoff Clarke, of St. Clair, was runner-up when he beat M. Gyde, Nelson, in a playoff. The weather was perfect for the tournament and big entries helped assure the success of the weekend.

Four of the top players are shown at left teeing off at the first. They are Templeman and Graeme Lummis (top), and Clarke and Doug Max (bottom). At top right, David Morrish (Lincoln) checks his entry with Keith Arres. On the fairway we found Bill Boyle, George Shing, Cliff Johns and John Loper. At left, taking it easy on his caddy-cart seat, is Colin Smith.
