The Maruia Springs Hotel Ablaze
The destruction of the Maruia Hotel by fire nearly three months ago can scarcely be regarded now as "hot" news. But until now we, and most other people for that matter, had not seen the hotel actually ablaze. This picture, taken by Ian Douglas, of Arrow Street, Wakefield, shows the hotel well ablaze at 5 a.m. It was pouring with rain at the time, but Ian was still able to get this excellent shot on an instamatic camera.
