Mrs Alma Nicholl has every right to feel proud of her three pupils, Pam Paterson (under 14), Kelvin Scott (under 12) and Beverley Hume (over 14), who scooped the pool in the piano accordeon solos at the recent competitions.

Cyril Pfefferley has worked for 22 years with the Electricity Department, but until recently had never seen an opossum so far along a high tension line. This fellow was sitting on top of 110,000 volts in the 88 Valley and provided subject for Cyril's camera.

A new thriving industry for Nelson is the export to the United States and Europe of deep frozen venison. The deer, shot in the Karamea region, is flown out by Golden Coast Airways and is shipped overseas by Nelson Fisheries. Here Bill Evans unloads haunches from his aircraft and Bob McLean packs it at the factory.
