"I Remember Mama"

The Nelson, Stoke and Richmond residents who did not see the Waimea College presentation of "I Remember Mama", missed a treat. The play, an adaptation of a book by Cathryn Forbes, centred round a Norwegian family, the Hansens, living in San Francisco in 1910. Mama, a woman devoted to her family and with a wonderful outlook on life, was played superbly by Sue Boys, and not one of the rest of the cast lowered the tremendously high standard of acting in what was a difficult play. Nothing but the highest praise is due to producer David MacKenzie, the cast, and the pupils who worked behind the scenes to ensure that no hitches occurred.

In this sequence of photographs we will attempt to give those readers who were not fortunate enough to see this play, some idea of the plot and the characters portrayed.
