During this, our hottest summer for some years the Municipal Pool has been the most popular spot in town. Whether you can swim, or just splash about in the learners' pool, the "muni" provides the means of cooling off. We found these two young swimmers, Denise Leggat and Barry Paton, getting some assistance from Janet Holden when we visited the pool.

And talking of heat and swimming reminds us that Kaiteriteri Beach is still one of the most popular seaside resorts in the district. Its golden sands and sheltered beach draw visitors from all parts of New Zealand every year.
