This huge slotcar track, one of the biggest in the country, is providing many Nelsonians and visitors alike with hours of enjoyment. The slotcar raceway is located in Bolt Road.

Nelson police rushing 15–year–old Anne Sweeney out of the helicopter which brought her from the Wangapeka Track, to hospital. Anne became ill during a tramping expedition and her companions walked out to summon help. A quick dash by Nelson helicopter pilot, Mr John Reid, who was working in Marlborough at the time, and Anne was on the way to hospital.
