Members of the Nelson Historical Society turned out in force to hear Mr C. T. Heine, Upper Moutere, talk on the early German settlements of Nelson.

Mr Keith Cobden, land registrar in Nelson for the last five years, ended his 43 years with the Lands and Deeds Department last month when he retired. His position has been filled by Miss Eileen O' Connor, who attains this very high office after only eight years with the department. She is obviously very talented, as her B.A. and LLB. would indicate. The Cobdens will continue to live in Nelson.

Despite the inclement weather, A. and P. show secretary, Kelvin Haycock, has reason to look pleased with himself. This was his first year as secretary and the organisation of it went like clock-work.
