Extensive Renovations to Hall

One of Nelson's greatest needs is a big conference hall, and while the extensive renovations being carried out on the St. Mary's hall in Manuka Street will not solve this problem completely, the completed building will certainly help the hall accommodation problem in the central city area. The old hall has been completely redesigned inside and out. A new ceiling has been built; the stage rebuilt and a portable extension stage added; there are two new dressing rooms off the stage; new toilet and cloakroom facilities and a big new kitchen with all catering facilities. While the hall will remain primarily a parish hall, it will be available for many other functions. Cost of the renovations is about $24,000.
