With the prevention of foot and mouth disease in mind, new regulations provide that all refuse from overseas vessels must now be incinerated. To that end the Nelson Harbour Board is building this incinerator building on the reclamation. In it, an oil burner will destroy all refuse.

The new trawler being completed for Alf Hosie, is coming along nicely. The vessel is unusual in that its hull is of concrete.

The Apple and Pear Board's new cool store on the reclamation has been constructed at a tremendous rate and should be available for the new apple season.
