Nelson Wins Rugby Title

Just when it seemed that Waimea Old Boys had the senior Rugby championship sewn up for the second successive year, Nelson scored eight points in the last five minutes to forge ahead and win the game. The match was a championship playoff after both teams were tied with 20 points. Until Nelson scored its eight points there was little between the two teams and for the most part scores were kept very close. It was Nelson's first win since 1964 (Pix by Peter Savage).
