Ribbon Parade

Last month's ribbon parade conducted by the Nelson Kennel Club gave puppies in the district a chance to show themselves off for the first time, and owners the chance to assess the pups' worth. This parade is always strongly supported by younger dogs, and this year was no exception. Among the many dogs paraded was a four-months-old German Shepherd bitch, Tanya, who has an illustrious parent. Her sire was judged supreme champion of England at Crufts, the only German Shepherd ever to achieve this distinction. That's her at bottom right.

"Oi, mate, watch yerself," barks the Australian terrier pup of Mrs Janet Toynbee, as judge, Don Batt, has a closer look.

A bundle of cuddles and mischief is this Corgi pup of Sandra Gurrey's

"My word I'm feeling proud of myself today," thinks this fine Samoyed, Torben.

Waiting for the judge: Marian Macpherson and her beagle hound.

We're not sure who's enjoying the cuddling most, Topsy the miniature wire haired terrier pup, or Jocelyn Cressey.
