Kerbing Made Easy

As with many other industries, a machine has taken the hard work out of constructing kerbing. Recently at Tahunanui we saw this machine laying chain after chain of kerbing, without recourse to boxing, and we were fascinated at the speed, accuracy and finish of the new kerbing. The machine, owned by contracting firm Zachariassen and Low can, in the right conditions, lay 20 to 30 chain of kerbing in a day. This is faster than the conventional method, and a little cheaper. The ready-mix concrete is poured into the machine as it inches forward and this is contracted and moulded into the kerbing. Controls on the front ensure the correct level and path it takes.
