Mr and Mrs "Goldie" Winter, who have lived in Nelson for the last 20 years, retired recently and have moved to Maronui Bay, Pelorus Sound.

Off to Wellington are Diane and Glen Bowden, and their children Grant and Dean (who was with nana when this pic was taken). Glen, a mechanic with Kirby's, has been appointed a vehicle inspector with the Transport Department, Wellington. Both have lived most of their lives in Nelson.

Sergeant Gordon Gillies, who has been stationed in Nelson for the last nine years, has left Nelson to take charge of the Turangi police sub-station, Taupo. Gordon was a valued member of the Nelson Highland Pipe Band and filled in as Drum Major on occasions. With him are his wife Lois, and children Maxine, Russell and Michele.

It's "welcome back" for Paul and Pam Lucie-Smith. Within a few months of their marriage here three years ago Paul, who's with State Insurance, was transferred to Wellington, where Jane was born. Within a couple of weeks of returning to Nelson, recently, wee Gary was born.

Leaving Nelson didn't appeal to Keay and Ken McCormack, and the family, Julian and Joanna, but promotion is nothing to be sneezed at and so the family have taken off for Palmerston North. Ken, who had lived all his life here, was supervisor of the Nelson Post Office Savings Bank and he has been transferred to the bank at Palmerston North. Mrs McCormack came to Nelson from Ashburton in 1943.

Recent arrivals, mostly from the Emerald Isle, are Jim Lavelle, Nola Muggleton, Mary Lavelle and Dominic O'Flynn, Jim is from County Mayo, Nola from Newcastle, Mary from Mayo and Dominic from Cork. The two girls are doing psychiatric nursing at Ngawhatu Hospital, Jim is a carpenter and Dominic a steel worker.

Latest addition to the Bank of New South Wales staff is Barry Gowan, a 20-year-old, from Christchurch. Barry was educated at St. Bede's College, and he's very keen on his Rugby and cricket.
