CONGRATULATIONS TO....

Mr Arnie Wesney, well-known Nelson personality, who celebrated his 90th birthday with a champagne lunch in the main bar of the Central Hotel for his closest friends. Here's the lunch party with Harold Delaney, Gordon Craw, Mary Jones, Frank Larcombe, Reg Boyes, Arnie himself, Perc Burn, Les Harris, Win Harris, Fred Pilcher, Bill Jones.

Ian Montgomery and Pam Paterson, who competed in Nelson and more recently at Rangiora, with outstanding success, in ballroom dancing championships. In this, their first year of competitive dancing, they have already won 13 championship ribbons between them. At the Rangiora contest Pam was runner-up in the Queen of the Ballroom event. Between them they won a first, two seconds and a third placing at Rangiora.

Arnie at his favourite place, at the keyboard, beats out a song for his friends.

Mr Strawbridge, our Mayor, for his excellent speech at the civic farewell to Sir Bernard and Lady Fergusson.
