What'S New In Industry
Aluminium Frames
In business and domestic building programmes, aluminium, because of its light weight and strength, is being used more widely. To cater for this demand, H. C. Cotton Ltd is now manufacturing aluminium door and window frames from a wide range of fabricated aluminium made and pressed in New Zealand. The price of these frames, compared with the wooden ones, is slightly higher, but the aluminium has advantages in greater durability and low maintenance.
Jack Mitchell and Derek Clark check a finished frame before taking it to the new Tasman Tavern for installation
Jack selects a length of aluminium boxing for a door frame from a big range of angled aluminium
The aluminium sections are bolted together, giving added strength.
Glazing is not quite as easy as the conventional method, but glass replacement, as carried out here by Alan Lee, is simple and quick.
