Indoor Bowlers Out In Force

Indoor bowlers from all parts of the Nelson and Marlborough Provinces (and some from the West Coast) competed in Nelson recently in a tournament organised by the indoor association. Headquarters for the tourney were at the Ngawhatu Hospital hall, at which all these pix were taken.

Getting on with the game.

"I'll have one right in here," Patricia Sinclair (Motueka United) tells a team member.

Somebody wins, somebody loses, but we have no hard feelings-— a handshake after a game between the fours of Oakly and Fry (Riwaka).

All eyes were on the mat, to the obvious joy of some, and uncertainty of others.

A tight head and all with but a single thought - Where's that bowl going to finish?

It's a game for youngsters like Janet Harvey, or for the older generation, like Jack Gay (Tasman), below centre.

"That's the shot bowl, so be careful how you play it," Ted Looms, of Blenheim, tells a team-mate.
