Eastern Star Lives Again

Striking a rock while rounding Harding Point early this month, the well-known Nelson launch, Eastern Star, owned by Mr V. McAuley, was holed, Mr. McAuley managed to beach the craft, but when, during salvage operations, she hit again, she sank. Skin divers assisted in bringing her up from the depths and with a temporary patch on the bows, she was towed back to Nelson. On the slip now, she will require extensive repairs to the hull, The pictures at the scene were taken by Mrs McAuley.
