Record Cup Performance

Compensate, three times winner of the Nelson Cup, went out third favourite for the jockey club's 1961 cup meeting and with a brilliant finishing burst came home first to win his fourth consecutive cup – a record for Nelson club and possibly New Zealand. The two day meeting was held in beautiful weather and big fields added interest to the meeting.
