Guides and Brownies attended a "Thinking Day" ceremony commemorating the birthdays of the founders of the movement, Lord and Lady Baden Powell, on February 22, at the Central School. Climax of the ceremony was the lighting of candles, an especially wonderful event for the little Brownies.

Preparing for P. B. R. C. (Paper Bag Rubbish Collection) Day in Nelson city which comes into force from today, April 1. Here City Council workers, distribute the hundreds of thousands of paper bags.

Visitors to Nelson recently (we caught them strolling around Wakefield Quay) were Harold Dransfield and George, the cockatoo, from Kimbolton.

Bruce Cook and his boat Tojiero landed this fine trophy, the Macaulay Cup, during the Southland Speed Boat Club's regatta recently. Boats up to 255 cu. ins. (V-bottom) competed for the trophy.
