Happenings On The Beach
Anyone using Rocks Road will undoubtedly have seen the enormous catchment of seaweed left on Ta-hunanui Beach after the recent storms. So thick was it in places that barely was a patch of sand visible.(above). Then the keen gardeners were in, with buckets, trailers, cars, trucks and even plastic bags. They cleared the area so quickly and thoroughly that the reserves department, faced with the cleaning job, was left with nothing to do.
The area immediately west of the present Lions playground at the road end of Tahuna Beach has been levelled and will be -used as an extension of the playground. Lions are busy raising money for this project now.
