Waimea College Adult Classes

There was scarcely room to move in the buildings of Waimea College late last month when the annual display of work by adult classes was held. And no wonder, for the exhibition was a real eye-opener. There was a tremendous amount to see in all classes, but the display which drew the crowds was that in the upholstery class.

Don Hutcheson examines the bridal outfit worn at his daughter's wedding (the bridesmaids' frocks were made by Mrs Hutcheson and the bridal gown by daughter Caroline).

Bill Bryson and John Wareing pick up some tips on wrought-iron from instructor Max Ameye (that' s Bill's work they're looking at).

Little Nicola Gibson is held up by dad, Dave, to share with Lesley and Caroline (back) the thrill of the doll in the cane cot.

Pamela models the lovely ball gown she made.

Demonstrating canework: Betty Edridge, Daphne Leversedge, Margaret 'Wells and instructor, Alice Sully.

Keen cabinetmaker is Eveanna Bright who's making a cabinet for her record player.

There was ample evidence of the industry of the art classes.

The pottery display was a little smaller this year but the qaulity was much higher.

Arriving with the enlarger he made is Ernest Farquhar (with a pic on the board of the solar heater he also made).
