Air lift of concrete
A huge slip which smashed a section of the Maitai waterline at an almost inaccessible bluff high in the valley posed a real repair problem for council staff. But it was solved easily by a helecopter of Helicopters (N.Z.) Ltd, which airlifted four tons of pre-mix concrete to workmen at the site. At the filling and unloading points, manager-pilot John Reid hovered the chopper while the loads were dealt with. A delivery is taking place (above).
