Gliding scholarship
The Nelson Gliding Club's scholarship project was an unqualified success. The opportunity to have free instruction up to the solo stage persuaded 113 applicants to "have a go", far exceeding the club's expectations. The awards to the winner, 21-year-old Evan Price, and runners-up, were presented by Mr Ivan Anderson, manager of Wright Stephenson Motors, who sponsored the scholarship, at a function at the airport.
