All power to those members of the Nelson City Council who refuse to let some petty bureaucrats smash our shop window. The drive around Wakefield Quay and Rocks Road is unique in New Zealand, and we fail to see why this magnificent panoramic view has to be vandalised by lamp poles because some over-officious board, or officials, say so. There is plenty of room on the landward side of the road for poles and from there the light would be adequate. So, continue to resist, Nelson, and may we ask all other local bodies in this area to support this stand taken by our council, by adding their protests to it. Our top pic shows our scenic drive as bureaucracy would have it and above as we want it.
