Hair Styling

Many beauty salons throughout the Nelson district were represented at the Nelson section of the 1966 Clairol Gold Crown Haircolouring and Styling Contest held in Nelson. The three salons placed will be represented at the semi-finals for the South Island in Christchurch in September. The national finals will be held in Auckland, and the winner will contest the international title in the United States during her (or his) 21-day holiday tour there. In Nelson, first place was won by Patricia Boyd (Motueka), seen here receiving her trophy from Mr Spencer Ayrey, head of the firm which manufactures Clairol under licence in New Zealand. Her model was Alison Roberts.
