Precipitators for Tarakohe

The huge precipitators and the shells to house them at the Golden Bay Cement Co's plant at Tarakohe were shipped by road from Dorman Engineering, in Nelson, to Takaka. Convoys of trucks had a slow, long haul to Tarakohe with their huge cargo.

A lot of time and measurements were taken as the shells and precipitators were loaded – a lopsided truck could bring disaster.
