Traffic Licences

×

The new licensing year is upon us. For most of us this doesn't pose many problems, but drivers in two categories, the over 70's and the new drivers, have special conditions to meet. The over 70's apply for a new licence and new drivers are restricted. All new drivers must carry L plates—in the case of those under 18 for three years and those over this age for two years. For the breaking of some traffic regulations, drivers holding probationary licences can have their licences cancelled and their probationary term extended, upon conviction. To give the over 70's an opportunity to brush up on their traffic regulations, the Nelson Automobile Association arranged illustrated lectures by the Transport Department, and, as can be seen, these were well attended.

Getting the lecture under way: Traffic Officer Jim Cherry, Cyril Rout, Bill Martyrn (patron), Chief Traffic Officer Tom Harris and AA Secretary, Mr Keith Askew.
