Local Horse Wins Main Trot

The Nelson-owned and trained horse, Gold Boots, overcame a 60 yds handicap to win the Caltex Cup, the main event on the first day of the Nelson Trotting Club's winter meeting at Richmond. It was a tremendous finish to an excellent race and little wonder he was given such a wonderful ovation when the result of the photo-finish was announced. He was sixth into the straight and on the long run up to the post mowed down Snow Chief, Hal Special, Chaman and Tahu before crossing the line a head in front of Richard Hanover. A big thrill for co-owners Messrs. J. L. Pugh and J. T. Hill (who trained Gold Boots.)
