Drama In Richmond

The Richmond Amateur Theatrical Society staged its first productions in the Waimea Intermediate School earlier this month when it presented three one-act plays. For its first effort the society is to be congratulated. But greater encouragement from the public will be necessary if the society is to progress. The three plays presented were "Shadow of Fear" (a thriller), "Send her Victorious" (a comedy) and "The Trap" (a drama).

In "Shadow of Fear" Mary Wade (Janne Leveston), Delia Svenson (Pat Guyton) and Isobel Hart (Pat Reay) plan the village burglaries while arthritis victim Miss Fielding (Barbara Dellow) listens closely.

Auntie (Mona Tier) intervenes during a quarrel between Ans Spaak and her other daughter June (Vernice Pettifer)

The plot of "Shadow of Fear" begins to unfold as Miss Fielding leaves her wheelchair to do a little burglary.
