Dog Trials

Dogs from all parts of the Nelson and Marlborough provinces and from other parts of the South Island competed in the Nelson-Marlborough championships at Wakefield recently.

Somewhere up there, sheep are waiting, and a competitor gets his dog away after them.

Keen onlookers and critics, George Biggs (Tapawera), Graham Lines, Reg Wells, Cyril Close, all of Wakefield, and Bill Kerridge (Richmond).

"Oi, what's cookin' out there"

Mrs Gwen Barlow, secretary of the Waimea club, checks the very impressive table of trophies.

Clarrie Barlow's Jean gave an excellent account of herself in the heading and yarding event.

The workers: Mesdames Jean Cohen, Nora Stringer, Gwen Bird, May Winks, Dora Gibbs, Connie Eden, Jean Dimmick and Hannah Meyer. Mesdames Stringer, Bird, Winks, Gibbs and Eden, have been attending the trials as members of the W. D. F. F. for 28 years.

Gently does it and the sheep are penned.
