The two major beach motor racing titles in New Zealand were decided at Tahuna Beach during the holiday period. Charlie Bensemann won the provincial title on the first day in his aero engined Stanton Special but then lost it on a protest, and on the second day, title-holder Neil Stuart, with Bensemann unable to compete because of mechanical trouble, won the .
