Waimea Intermediate Music Festival

There were many disappointed parents at the Waimea Intermediate School assembly hall last month. They had arrived for the school's annual music festival and were turned away because the hall was absolutely packed. But, although some parents were disappointed, the lucky ones to get inside were highly delighted with the musical fare provided by the pupils. Probably their enthusiasm stemmed from the fact that all the music played had a lilt and a lift to it and the choral numbers were also the kind which set the foot tapping. One of the most enjoyable items of the evening was a bracket of popular tunes (Beatle beat and jazz) and it was most obvious that the children themselves received as much kick out of these items as their audience. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable musical evening.
