Gordon Schwass (left), who with Les Wells, Les Kerr and George McGregor comprised the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade's demonstration team of 1940, received his 25 years' gold star service award at the brigade's annual dinner recently. The three other members of the team also have the gold star.

The Marlborough Automobile Association believes that toilet facilities should be provided by Nelson Automobile Association at the summit of the Whangnmoa Saddle, but the Nelson A. A. Council has some problems that must be resolved before it feels it can provide these facilities. Evidently someone over the other side of the saddle felt it was time to hasten things along a bit, for secretary Keith Agnew recently received a box in which reposed a well-wrapped potty. No note accompanied the gift, but as it appeared obvious that it was earmarked for the Whangamoa Saddle, Keith presented it to patrol officer Ron James to instal (or otherwise take care of).
