A very well-known building in Nelson, the cannery of Kirkpatrick and Co, may be closed by the Wattie organisation following the takeover by Watties of all the New Zealand interests of Henry Jones Co-op, Ltd, of Australia. Kirkpatricks were taken over by the Jones combine in 1925.

Queen Scout certificates were presented to Keith Hosie and Ian Duffield, members of the Achilles Sea Scout group last month. Mr Tom Wood, "skipper" of the group, received his group scoutmaster's warrant the same evening.

Stoke-Tahuna Rotarians in the process of putting down a big slab of concrete outside the Tahuna Plunket rooms. Working well were Charles Chamberlain, Baden Hart, Alec Senior, Al St John, Bill Batchelor, Norman Chang, Ron King and Gordon Laing.
