The old offices of the Nelson Harbour Board which became redundant when the new offices were occupied, are being torn down. The new owner of the old building, Mr O. W. Bateup, paid the harbour board £1 1s 6d for the privilege of knocking it down. The board had previously received tenders up to £300 to undertake the work.

The old scow Talisman which has been moored well out in the harbour, has been taken over by the harbour board and is being transformed into a floating wharf. New decking is being laid and when this is completed she will be towed to the small boat harbour, a gangway built out to her, and she Will be used as a floating wharf for small boat owners.
