Winter is not a particularly colourful season but it is relieved for many by the vivid red flowers of the red hot pokers. They, together with two wee tots feeding the ducks in Queen's Gardens, have given us this warming picture.

One of the best-known landmarks in Nelson is undoubtedly the Moller Fountain in Haven Road. Set among the trees, the fountain seldom fails to attract the eye. Its location, unfortunately, does not allow travellers to stop and dwell upon its every-changing colours and patterns, but later, when the new road goes through, this situation could be altered.
