"The Merry Widow"

×

How to keep the millions of Madame Glavari, the Merry Widow, within the country of Pontevedro, is the problem that confronts the Ponteved-rian ambassador, and the main plot around which evolves the humourous and musical story of "The Merry Widow", the Nelson Operatic Society's 1964 production. The society has been rehearsing strenuously for many weeks and at the stage at which we saw parts of the show there can be no doubting that another success will be added to the society's long list of successful productions. The costuming is brilliant and the music wonderful. The season will open at the Theatre Royal on August 29.
On this page are the two principals, Count Danilo (Tom Elliott), a suitor of Madame Glavari, the Widow (Betty Don).
