Work is well advanced on the erection of a 114ft tower being built at the northern end of the sanctuary of the Nelson Cathedral. The tower will incorporate vestries. Finance to cover the £36,000 job has been promised by parishioners in Nelson. When the work is completed only the building of transepts will remain.

Mrs Louisa Stent, who celebrated her 90th birthday with her family at the Alexandra Home recently. She and her late husband farmed at Takaka for many years.
