The Highland Ball

Scots, so stories go, are supposed to be dour, but we didn't see the slightest sign of dourness during the annual ball of the City of Nelson Highland Pipe Band. On the contrary, gaiety seemed infectious, and the ball went with a swing from the grand march to the wee hours.

The Educational Centre

×

The area shown in this picture could well be termed the educational centre of Nelson, containing as it does three colleges, two primary schools and the Education Board's offices. The school at bottom left is Nelson Central with Sacred Heart College and St Joseph's Convent behind them. Nelson College and College for Girls are at right.
