Chatham Cup Soccer

By beating Nomads (Christchurch) by 3 goals to 2 (the winning goal being scored in extra time), Nelson Rangers fought their way into the South Island final of the Chatham Cup, to be played in Nelson on August 15. The match will have been decided by the time this issue is on sale, but we are certain that if the team plays with the unflagging zeal that characterised its game against Nomads it could well reach the national final. We wish it a hearty, if belated, good luck.

Once again, Chapman is there for an attempt, but again he missed for a split second after this shot was taken Ray Bagnall (right) had his hands in the air applauding a good goal.

Wide Open Spaces

For a girl and her pony on a Saturday after-noon, especially in the sunshine, the wide, open spaces beckon. On the Appleby-Mapua Road, there is lovely scenery and a peaceful atmosphere - just the place for a leisurely ride. (Ellis Dudgeon)
