Down comes the old wall which formed part of the office block and store of the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Co's foundry which was destroyed by fire months ago. A new office and store block is being built.

The retirement of Peter Manson from the Nelson Fire Brigade, which he served for 20 years, was marked by members of the brigade with a presentation of a canteen of cutlery. Chief Fire Officer Hec Oliver, who presented the canteen, is seen here with Mrs Elva Manson, Peter and Mrs Josephine Oliver.
